Powerful Renewing Your Mind Gems
Don’t Delay Your Renovation
Romans 12:2 in the New American Standard Bible says “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” I’m sure no matter what stage of being a believer you are in we have all heard that scripture used at some point or another, but even if you have not that’s totally okay too because this is a safe space to learn and to grow. I took the liberty to break down that scripture for you. According to The New Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance Of The Bible the greek word for renewing literally means renovation. God is saying that your thought life has to go through a renovation.
Think of an old abandoned house that was once empty, rundown and full of safety hazards, now imagine a construction team with all their tools coming in and completely renovating the house to where it doesn’t even appear to be the same home because of the major renovation that has now taken place. Renovation brings transformation, renewal, improvement, and rejuvenation.
One of the practical ways to apply this verse to your life is to invite Holy Spirit to help you fight the battle in your mind. You are not alone, He wants to be your best friend! Just like we run to our friends, family, or spouse about things that frustrate us we should learn to run to Holy Spirit about things thoughts that torment us. I don’t just say talk to Holy Spirit about your troubles because it’s the “right” thing to say. Here’s the thing tormenting thoughts is a spiritual thing that’s occurring we don’t fight them with our fists, we fight those thoughts through the word of God and through the authority we are given because of the Holy Spirit residing in us. Pick up your tool which is the Bible to renew your mind so that the renovation can take place inside of you!
Choose What You Dwell On
Before I went through deliverance I had to make the decision to cut out some things because I knew continuing in sin would not allow me to keep my deliverance. Certain things I watched and gave my ear to took root in my heart and my actions manifested the very things that I was held captive by. Your story may not be that you was in bondage to masturbation, pornography, and rejection like me. However, we all have something that has kept us away from walking in the light that God has freely provided for us. After deliverance one of the main things the enemy was trying to place back in my life was the spirit of rejection. The first thing I did was watch who I allowed to have access to me. Some of the people that had access to me were not encouraging me and uplifting me they were tearing me down little by little.
As a result of deliverance, setting healthy boundaries and coming out of agreement with the lies the enemy tried to get me to believe I have been able to maintain my freedom in the area of rejection. Setting healthy boundaries looks like you verbalizing how something is negatively affecting you and how you would like for it to stop or severing all ties with the toxic situations that cause for you to repeat cycles of dysfunction. Demons have the power that you allow them to have in your life after deliverance because of the access that they are given by unrepentant sin and agreement. Choose to set your mind and heart on the things that make the Father happy because I can guarantee you that those are the same things that are going to benefit you.
Remember Who You Are
I am apart of a women’s group called Lioness Arising. On our first meeting a questioned was posed and the question was who are you really?! We were to write I am statements and it wasn’t supposed to be your typical response like I am a child of God. Though that’s good, this required us to get with Holy Spirit so He could define who we are and what we carry. Honestly, it was a life changing moment for me. When you have the language of who you are defined by the One who has chosen you before the beginning of time your perception changes. You began to move with purpose and authority. Knowing who you are causes you to walk a certain way. You walk with such boldness, fierceness, authority and confidence.
Renewing your mind about who you are in Christ changes how you move about life. I’ve mentioned before how I felt so inadequate, well as I allow God to tell me I am accepted I can walk into a room knowing fully that God sees me, He loves me, He values me and I am someone of substance and that takes my mind off of my shortcomings and the constant nagging thoughts about me not belonging. Take some time and sit with God and ask Him who you are. Allowing Abba to define You instead of the world will cause transformation to take place in your mind!
