Recently, my heart has been so encouraged and filled with hope because I got a glimpse of the hidden work God is doing in my oldest daughter, Serenity. If I’m being real, she’s the child I’ve worried about the most. We bump heads a lot—she’s sensitive, outspoken, fiery, and honestly, she reminds me a lot of myself. For the longest time, my biggest fear was that my own struggles and mistakes would end up pushing her away from Jesus instead of drawing her closer. Parenting while healing is hard, and I was so scared she’d grow up needing to heal from wounds I unintentionally caused.
But let me tell you how good and faithful God is: He reminded me that He’s always working behind the scenes, even when we can’t see it.
About a week ago, our family did a spiritual assessment to figure out the ways we each connect best with God. To my surprise, Serenity’s results showed fasting and worship as her top methods. When she shared how she enjoys giving things up to draw closer to God, how she worships in the mornings, and ends her day reading the Bible—I was floored. My heart completely melted with gratitude. Here was God quietly encountering my baby, deeply and personally, and I didn’t even realize it was happening.
Motherhood has taught me so much about patience and trusting God’s timing. Planting seeds in our kids’ hearts is just like planting seeds in a garden. We plant, we water, we care, we nurture, and then we wait. And we wait some more. Just because the fruit isn’t immediately visible doesn’t mean growth isn’t happening. Raising my kids has taught me what it really looks like to trust God’s process—even when it feels painfully slow.
My husband and I have made a point to intentionally pour into our children, even when it’s tough. We’ve had open and honest conversations about everything—life, struggles, trauma, heaven, hell, faith, deliverance—you name it. We answer their questions honestly, even when it’s uncomfortable. Even when rebellion tries to creep in. But what’s been even more powerful than our words has been our prayers. Prayer has carried us through seasons where words alone just weren’t enough. Never underestimate the power of prayer. It shifts things in the spiritual realm that our own strength never could.
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up
Galatians 6:9
This scripture has anchored me, reminding me that planting seeds and interceding in prayer is never wasted.
Seeing Serenity genuinely hunger for God has ignited a fresh fire within me to boldly believe for other loved ones—especially my mom. It reminds me daily that God alone has the power to change hearts. Serenity’s transformation builds a holy confidence in me to keep interceding, no matter how impossible things may seem in the natural.
If you’re reading this and feeling worn down in your prayers, let me encourage you: Please don’t give up. I’ve personally seen God answer prayers that seemed impossible. My friend who worshipped nature gave her life to Christ after years of resistance. My husband was delivered from religious bondage. My son, who faced countless obstacles in school because of autism, began to soar. And now Serenity, who I feared would struggle spiritually, is passionately seeking God on her own.
The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working
James 5:16
Prayer is powerful and purposeful. It aligns our hearts with God’s promises and allows us to partner with Him in ways we can’t fully comprehend.
Keep planting those seeds. Keep interceding. Keep trusting God, even if the ground seems barren and silent right now. Remember His past faithfulness and let it fuel your hope. The breakthrough you’re believing for will come because the people you love were His long before they were yours. Your prayers, conversations, tears, and love are never wasted.
May this glimpse into my own journey encourage you to trust God beyond what you can see. Those hidden seeds you’re planting will bloom beautifully in His perfect timing. Trust the process. Trust His timing. Trust His faithfulness. Your harvest is on the way.
